Questions

“Why do you always answer a question with another question?”

“Do I do that?”

“You mean you don’t even realize you are doing that?”

“Does it bother you that much?”

“Don’t you think it should bother me”?

“I’m not sure. What do you think?”

It can get really tedious when all of your questions only lead to other questions. But it is the intent of this blog to be asking questions about God. Jeff Moore wrote one hundred such questions. http://www.atheistrepublic.com/blog/jeff-moore/one-hundred-above-board-questions-about-god I will just take a few and attempt to answer them with, you guessed it, more questions. But maybe some of these questions are readily answered by you, dear reader.

If there is a God, why is there no compelling evidence for his existence?

If there is a god, and claims for a deity have been nonstop for thousands of years, why is there no evidence of such a being? The theists will claim that they have all the evidence they need in their heart and soul. Fine! But shouldn’t such an all-powerful being leave some clues behind? We have fossils that have left evidence of cyanobacteria that is about 4 billion years old. Would it be so hard for God to leave at least that much evidence?

Why is God constantly testing humans if he knows everything already?

God is usually described as being all-knowing. This means he knows what humans are going to do. So why the constant testing of humans? Kind of mean and cruel, isn’t it?

Why does God become angry and jealous if he is only good?

How can a god be all-good and still be a vengeful, jealous god? The bible itself says that God is so, does it not?

Why are most of God’s followers with low IQ levels?

Ooo, burn. Yet, isn’t it true that the smarter a person is, the less likely they are to be believers? Check out this web page https://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/atheists-more-intelligent-than-religious-people-faith-instinct-cleverness-a7742766.html

Where I found this statement from researchers Dutton and van der Linden. “A negative correlation between intelligence and religion makes sense if religion is considered an instinct, and intelligence the ability to rise above one’s instincts.”

Why do we find, on a regular basis, the less necessity of the God-of-the-gaps arguments and more and more necessity of the god-less theories to explain nature?

Why does the god of the gaps keep shrinking? Take an old, god-based mythology: Thor throws thunderbolts – that explains lightning. But now we know how lightning is really created. Science may not have arrived at the true nature of lightning immediately but at no time do we move from a scientific explanation for something, find it wanting, and go back to a supernatural explanation. Science might make mistakes but the correction will come from science itself. Science doesn’t revert back to the god-based explanation ever. Has it?

Why does God only bother about humans in the earth while there are billions and billions of other planets which might be teeming with lives and other issues?

Why doesn’t god mention life on other planets? True, we haven’t proved they exist yet. But if Genesis is supposed to be a source of scientific information regarding astrophysics, why does it seem it only covers the science known to humans at the time it was written?

If evolution theory is wrong, then why has God kept so much evidence for that theory?

Some like to say that evolution is “just” a theory. But in the context of science, such a theory is really a model – a framework for answering questions. In this case, the questions relate to how we came to be humans. There were other frameworks (Intelligent Design, Lamarckian theory) but they all failed except for the theory of Evolution. Despite the word “theory”, it is not an opinion or guess. And there are evolutionary facts. One fact is that we have the videotape evidence of evolution – we call it DNA. That videotape shows us that humans and chimpanzees had a common ancestor.

If evolution theory is “just” a theory, why did God create so much evidence for evolution? Does God like to trick us?

If everything needs a reason to exist, what is God’s reason to exist?

What is God’s reason to exist? Does he or she ever look at all creation and wonder “is that all there is?”

Why does prayer to God not work at all?

Skip this question and go straight to the evidence: https://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/31/health/longawaited-medical-study-questions-the-power-of-prayer.html
