There are a lot of descriptions of hell. Fire and brimstone, never-ending agony, for all eternity. Sounds like something to avoid if at all possible. But what is heaven? Every day is wonderful? What is a day? What is wonderful? I can’t think of anything that is remotely attractive about heaven as soon as you add the words “for eternity”. One description is that in heaven you live forever (making the unsubstantiated claim that “you” is something other than your brain). In hell even if there isn’t pain you still die, totally and forever. But that makes hell sound better. The boredom of heaven sounds hellish to me.
In a previous blog entry, I added the joke about how God is considering suicide because he looks around heaven and says “is this all there is?”
